Forbes has released its list of the top 400 wealthiest people in America and eight Connecticut residents made the cut.
Bridgewater Associates’ Ray Dalio was the top billionaire in the state with a net worth of $15.9 billion — making him the 25th wealthiest person in the nation. The hedge fund is based in Westport and Dalio lives in Greenwich.
Fellow Greenwich resident Steve Cohen came in at No. 31 with a $13 billion net worth. Cohen runs Stamford-based Point72 Asset Management.
Hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones, founder of the Tudor Investment Corp. and another Greenwich resident, is third in the state and 120th in the nation with a net worth of $4.6 billion.
Others on the list are: Karen Pritzker, with a $4.3 billion fortune; Stephen Mandel, who has a net worth of $2.5 billion; Peter Buck, with a net worth of $2.4 billion; Alexandra Daitch and Lucy Stitzer, who have a $1.8 billion fortune each.
The top spots in the nation belong to others, though. Bill Gates is once again — for the 23rd year — the top billionaire, with a net worth of $81 billion.
Amazon’s Jeff Bezos makes a leap on the list to No. 2 with a $20 billion addition to his former $47 billion net worth. That move made Warren Buffett drop from the second spot for the first time in 15 years. He has a net worth of $65.5 billion.
And No. 4 is Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, who made the top five for the first time due to his $55.5 billion fortune.
All together Forbes estimates the top 400 are worth a record-breaking $2.4 trillion.
