Intoxicated teen found asleep at the wheel faces drug charges
Vincent Walters, 19, is now being charged with possession of more than a half-ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to sell, in addition to drunk driving charges.
Wilton police received a call on Aug. 11 at 5:45 p.m. from residents of 45 Seir Hill Road after an unknown vehicle parked in their driveway and never got out of the car.
The responding officers found Walters and a passenger unresponsive with the car still running. Police said Walters was asleep when they arrived.
Officers attempted to wake the pair first by shouting and then tapping the window, before finally opening the door and trying to shake the driver awake.
When Walters still didn’t respond, the officer went to remove him from the vehicle. Though the officers had turned the vehicle off, when they pulled the two teens from the vehicle, they found that the car had not been in park when it began to roll backwards.
After the officers corralled the car and put it in park, they found the two teenagers had finally awakened.
After some questioning, police found that Walters had no explanation as to why they had pulled into the driveway, police said. The car’s passenger was sent to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation, while Walters signed a refusal to treatment.
Under the new charges, Walters was held on a $10,000 bond, which he posted. He is expected to appear in court on Sept. 8.
